Seo-gu (서구) is the western edge of Busan's old centre. Most visitors come for Songdo Beach and the sea views, but the district's restaurants, spread between the coast and the hillside neighbourhoods of Dongdaesin and Seodaesin, are worth a stop too.
What to see
Songdo Beach (송도해수욕장) is the area's main attraction, and the Songdo Marine Cable Car runs across the bay. Cheonma Mountain Sculpture Park is a hillside art park in Amnam-dong, and Songdo Village is a small coastal neighbourhood with a fishing-port feel.

What to eat
- Jinseon (진선) is a Chinese-Korean restaurant in Amnam-dong (₩₩).
- Deungdaehalmaejip (등대할매집) serves grilled eel and hagfish (₩₩), and has appeared on the YouTube channel Choi Ja Road.
- Saeukkaneunjip (새우까는집) is a seafood restaurant in Dongdaesin-dong (₩₩₩).
- Daeyeonhoetjip (대연횟집) serves sashimi in the same neighbourhood (₩₩₩).
- Yetnalomakjip (옛날오막집) serves beef intestines and tripe (₩₩). Listed hours are 12:00 to 21:30, last order 20:30, closed on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month.
- Masanjip Dwaejigukbap (마산집돼지국밥) serves pork and rice soup in Seodaesin-dong (₩₩).
How to eat
For sashimi, order a set and ask for the spicy fish soup (maeuntang) to finish. For pork soup, add chives and salted shrimp to taste, then stir in rice. Grilled intestines are cooked at the table, so let the staff show you how they like it done. If you are new to offal, start with the pork soup or sashimi and save the tripe for a second visit.
When to go
Songdo Beach is best on a sunny day, then a late lunch in Dongdaesin or an early dinner on the coast. Weekends bring beach crowds, so go early. Most of these restaurants list no hours on EatHub, so check each page first.
Around the area
The Seo-gu coast is close to Busan's fish market district. For that side of the city, read our guide to Nampodong and Jagalchi.
Practical tips
- Getting there: Take Busan Subway Line 1 to Toseong, Dongdaesin or Seodaesin Station, or a bus or taxi to Songdo.
- Plan by car or taxi: Amnam-dong and Songdo are spread along the coast, and the hillside neighbourhoods are best reached by bus or taxi. A simple plan is Songdo Beach and the cable car in the morning, Cheonma Mountain for the view, and a late lunch in Dongdaesin.
- Allergies: Seafood dishes contain fish or shellfish. Pork soup may contain soy and sesame. Chinese-Korean noodles contain wheat.
Every restaurant below has a video on its EatHub page. They are a quick way to decide where to eat.
