Seongnam (성남), just south of Gangnam, contains two planned cities most visitors have heard of without knowing where they are. Bundang is a 1990s new town of apartment blocks and parks. Pangyo is the tech valley where many of Korea's biggest game and internet companies are based. Neither is a tourist district, and that's what makes them worth an afternoon: you see how Korea's professional middle class lives and eats.
What to see
- Yuldong Park (율동공원) — a reservoir park with an easy loop trail of about 2.5 km around the lake, a book-themed garden, and a bungee jump tower for the brave.
- Pangyo Museum (판교박물관) — built over Baekje-era stone tombs discovered when the new town was being developed. It's small, free and a surprising find under a tech district.
- Tancheon Stream — a long riverside path through Bundang, popular with cyclists and runners.
- Jeongja-dong café street — a tree-lined strip of cafés and brunch spots.
What to eat
Office towns eat well at lunch and after work, and Bundang's restaurants are built for regulars.

- Sohojeong — Andong guksu, fine noodles in a clear beef broth, with boiled pork and pancakes. It's a classic Gyeongsang-style noodle house.

- Miga — perilla-seed sujebi (hand-torn dough soup) and chungmu gimbap in Seohyeon.
How to plan the visit
The Sinbundang Line runs from Gangnam to Pangyo in about 15 minutes. The Suin-Bundang Line links Bundang's stations (Seohyeon, Sunae, Jeongja, Imae). For Yuldong Park, take a short taxi or bus from Seohyeon.
Practical tips
- Lunch rush is roughly 11:40–13:00 on weekdays, when the office crowds come out.
- The Hyundai Department Store in Pangyo has one of the largest food halls in the Seoul area, which is good on a rainy day.
- Allergies: Andong guksu broth is beef-based, and sujebi contains wheat and perilla.
