BTS Beyond Seoul: Busan, the East Coast, Wanju, and Jeju

About half the BTS locations in the EatHub BTS collection are outside Seoul, and they're the ones that turn a fan trip into an actual trip around Korea. Each of the four regions below is a full day — some of them two — but each also lands you somewhere with food worth the train ticket.

Busan: Jimin's city, and Jungkook's

Busan has the largest non-Seoul cluster, and it doubles as one of Korea's best eating cities, which makes it the easiest region to justify.

• Busan Citizens Park in Busanjin — the walking paths V posted photos from, known to fans as the "V Road." A large, calm park in the middle of the city.
• Gamcheon Culture Village — the hillside village of painted houses, with murals of Jungkook and Jimin that fans come to find. Go early; the lanes are narrow and people live in them.
• Oryukdo — the rock islets off the southern coast, introduced in Jimin-related Busan tourism content, with a skywalk over the water.
• Dadaepo Beach — a wide sunset beach on the west side of the city.
• Busan Arts High School and Jeil Park in Seodong — Jimin's school and childhood neighborhood. The school is a working school: exterior viewing only, no entering the grounds.

Eat: Busan is the country's seafood capital, plus dwaeji-gukbap (pork rice soup), milmyeon, and ssiat hotteok. Seomyeon is the downtown hub near Citizens Park; Jagalchi and Nampo are near Gamcheon.

The east coast: the Butter beach and the bus stop

Two of the most photographed BTS locations in Korea are on the Gangwon coast, a couple of hours apart.

Maengbang Beach in Samcheok is where the Butter concept photos were shot — a long, quiet stretch of sand that looks nothing like a tourist beach outside of summer. The BTS bus stop at Hyangho Beach in Jumunjin, north of Gangneung, is a recreation of the You Never Walk Alone jacket setting, built for fans and now one of the most-queued photo spots on the coast. Expect a line on weekends and a very short turn each.

Also in Gangwon: Neungpadae in Goseong, a coastal formation of pitted rock used in album photography, and the In the SOOP filming site in Pyeongchang — this one requires an advance-reservation tour, so check before you plan around it.

Eat: the east coast means raw fish, grilled fish, and squid; Gangneung also has Korea's most serious coffee scene, and Sokcho has the fish-market fried-chicken-and-dakgangjeong tradition.

Wanju and Jeonju: the Summer Package country

Three 2019 Summer Package locations sit close together in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do:

• Awon Old House — a hanok cultural space and museum, and the most photogenic of the three.
• Soyang Oseongje Reservoir — a small reservoir the members visited.
• Wibongsanseong Fortress — a mountain fortress wall with a waterfall trail nearby.

Nearby in Jeonju, the old main gate of Jeonbuk National University was used for music video filming.

Eat: you are in Jeonju, which is the reason to make this trip regardless of the K-Spots. Bibimbap, kongnamul-gukbap, and the hanok village's food streets are all here.

Jeju: the island stops

Jeju's BTS locations are spread across the island, so rent a car or plan around one side.

• Oedolgae in Seogwipo — the lone rock pillar, linked to HYYH pt.2 content, with a coastal walk beside it.
• Jeju Best Hill — a campground used for album and photobook shoots.
• Iho Tewoo Beach — the beach with the red-and-white horse lighthouses, near Jeju City.
• Snoopy Garden in Gujwa — a large themed garden a member is known to have visited.

Eat: Jeju black pork, hweh (raw fish), abalone porridge, and the island's obsessive café culture. Iho Tewoo is close enough to Jeju City to pair with a market dinner at Dongmun.

Two more, in Gyeonggi

If you never leave the capital region: Ilyeong Station in Yangju was the opening location of the Spring Day music video, Seohuri Forest in Yangpyeong was a season's greetings site, Dae Jang Geum Park in Yongin is where SUGA filmed Daechwita as Agust D, and Everland's Rockville appeared in Run BTS! episodes 100–101. All are day trips from Seoul.

Planning notes

• These are day-scale trips, not stops. Samcheok and Wanju are each a full day from Seoul by train plus local transport.
• Check operating status before you commit — the Pyeongchang site is reservation-only, and rural sites keep short hours.
• Rural Korea is where the regional food is. The K-Spot is the excuse; the meal is often the better memory.
